Whenever I plan a vacation the first thing I look for is activities for kids. It is rare that I get to take one without Kaden coming along, so I want to make sure that he will not be bored and they will be entertained enough that mom gets somewhat of a break. The second thing I look at is the weather in the area we’ll be at, and whether or not it is tourist season. Do not get me wrong, tourists are not bad, but when it comes to having to wait in long lines to do things, Kaden is the worst complainers. So the less crowded, the better.
One of our favorite destinations is San Diego. In October we are takinga cruise our of San Deigo and hoping to stay a few days after the cruise to explore a little of the city and the amazing beaches. Not only do they have 70 miles of beautiful beaches (which is where you can find me 99% of the time), but they also have over 100+ attractions that are great for any age. The San Diego Zoo is a personal favorite of ours. There are so many animals to see and activities to do. We have found that the best time to travel to San Diego is in October. Not only are the Summer crowds gone but October is also Kids Free San Diego Month! Kids Free San Diego allows families to maximize their vacation value which is important, especially when you are working with a budget.
During Kids Free San Diego more than 100 participating businesses including attractions, museums, hotels, restaurants, activities, transportation partners and more offer deals in which kids eat, stay, and play for FREE! Yes, I said FREE! If you have kids than you know just how expensive vacations can be. Between admission fees for the whole family and food, you are usually spending an arm and a leg. This is what makes San Diego one of our favorite spots!
Still not all that convinced? Look up San Diego and I’m sure you will see why it is one of the best spots for family vacations. Not only do they have 70 miles of beautiful beaches, but they also have the San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld San Diego, LEGOLAND California Resort, Birch Aquarium at Scripps, Mission Bay Aquatic Park, USS Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum, and so much more! There is something in San Diego that everyone, no matter the age, will enjoy.
