Did you know that more than one in every five children in the U.S. may not know where there next meal is coming from? I’m not sure about you but that statistic makes me sad. We should be doing more to make sure the children, our futures, are properly nourished. Being a mother, this really hits home for me. I make it a priority to donate to local food pantries as often as I can.
Our local schools have food pantries that provide “weekend bags” to children who live below the poverty level and only get to eat at school. It ensures that they have something to eat while school is out so that they can start over Monday with a full belly. Child hunger is one of the reasons some child have a hard time focusing in school and often fall behind. If everyone in the U.S. donated just a couple of items we could feed a whole lot of people.
ConAgra has partnered with presidential “hopeful” Robby Novak, aka Kid President, to bring child hunger to America’s Forefront. He has declared 2016 “The Year of the Kid”, and as part of his campaign he’s released a video addressing child hunger in America. Go HERE to view this video and share with your friends to help raise awareness.
Not sure where your local food pantries are, or don’t know how you can make an impact? Visit childhungerendshere.com and click on the “How You Can Help” tab to find out easy ways for you and your family to get involved. Looking for a REALLY easy way to help out? Look for the red push pin on specialty marked packages of ConAgra foods, such as Marie Callender’s and Hunts, at your favorite retailer and enter the code at childhungerendshere.com. For each of these actions, ConAgra will donate the monetary equivalent of one meal to Feeding America, up to 100,000 meals.
